Demix Translator (“the App”) is a Windows desktop application published by Demix Global (“we”, “us”, “our”). This policy explains how the App handles your information.
Summary
- The App runs entirely on your own computer. We operate no server for the App, there are no user accounts, and we do not collect, receive, or store your documents, text, or any personal information on our systems.
- To translate, the App sends the text you choose to translate to Google Translate. That text is processed by Google under Google’s own privacy terms.
- Your translated files and a local translation-memory database are stored only on your device, under your control.
What the App processes
- Document text you select for translation. When you translate documents, the App extracts text from your Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files and sends that text to Google Translate to obtain the English translation. Only the text needed to perform the translation is sent.
- Local files. The App reads the documents you point it at and writes translated copies (files ending in
-engl) and backups (files ending in-back) to locations on your device that you choose. - Local translation memory. Translated text pairs are cached in a local database (SQLite) on your device so previously translated text need not be sent again. This database never leaves your device unless you move it.
Third-party processing — Google Translate
The App uses Google Translate to perform translations. The text you choose to translate is transmitted to Google for that purpose and is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy. We do not control how Google processes that text. Do not translate documents containing information you are not permitted to share with a third-party translation service.
What we do NOT do
- We do not collect analytics or telemetry.
- We do not transmit your data to Demix Global or to any server we operate.
- We do not sell or share your data with anyone, other than the Google Translate transmission described above, which only happens when you choose to translate.
Your control
You choose which documents to translate and where files are written, and you can delete the local translation-memory database and any output files at any time.
Children
The App is a general productivity tool and is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the “Last updated” date above will change accordingly.
