Overview

Our PMO Health Check Service assesses the performance of your PMO versus industry recognised best practice as defined by P3O®. CMMI® for Development and CMMI® for Services.

The Health Checks are performed using the internationally recognised SCAMPI Appraisal Method and are led by Certified Lead Appraisers who combine their knowledge of best practice with their own practical experience of setting up and managing PMOs for major organisations.

They are conducted on a fixed price basis over an elapsed period of between 5 and 15 days depending on the scale and scope of the Health Check and the Organisation.

So if:

- Your PMO is not adding the value you expected.

- Your PMO is not delivering the return on investment anticipated.

- Your Programmes and Projects continue to fail to deliver on time, budget and quality.

- You continue to get unexpected surprises and delivery challenges.

Our PMO Health Check will help you find the root causes of these problems.

Detail

Portfolio, Programme and Project Offices (P3O®) The P3O model provides a decision enabling/delivery support structure for all change within an organization. This may be provided through a single permanent office which may exist under several different names, for example, Portfolio Office, Centre of Excellence, Enterprise or Corporate Programme Office. P3O defines best practice in relation to 22 PMO Functions and Services.

CMMI® for Development. The CMMI® DEV model provides best practice for 22 Process Areas divided into 4 Categories Project Management, Support, Process Management and Engineering. There are direct correlations between 12 of these Process Areas and the functions and services provided by a PMO e.g. Project Planning, Project Monitoring and Control, Risk Management etc.

CMMI® for Services. The CMMI® SVC model provides best practice for 24 Process Areas divided into 7 Categories Service Delivery, Capacity and Availability Management, Incident Resolution and Prevention, Strategic Service Management, Service System Development, Service System Transition and Service Continuity. If the PMO is established as a function providing Services to the Portfolio, Programmes and Projects then many of these best practices are applicable.

Health Checks

Two forms of Health Checks are offered the Silver Appraisal (SCAMPI B) and Gold Appraisal (SCAMPI A).

Both are led by a Certified CMMI® Lead Appraiser supported by trained Appraisal Team Members.

The primary difference between the two types of Health Check is the level of rigor and the fact that the SCAMPI A Appraisal can provide a Capability Level for each of the PMO Process Area in scope, the results can also be published on the CMMI® Institute PARS Site (Published Appraisal Results) if required.

The key deliverable being a report highlighting strengths and opportunities for improvement. This can optionally be expanded into a comprehensive PMO Improvement Plan the implementation of which can be supported by DEMIX Consultants if required.

If your PMO is not adding the value you expected then perform a DEMIX PMO Health Check to find out why!
