Attending Key Industry Events

This year offered valuable opportunities to represent our work and deepen our expertise at major industry gatherings.

European Medical Device Summit – Düsseldorf

Our participation at the EU Summit was a standout moment of the year. The event brought together medical device manufacturers, regulators, and industry leaders from across Europe to discuss innovation, quality, and the evolving expectations within the medical device ecosystem.

We proudly represented the Voluntary Improvement Program (VIP) — a collaborative initiative driven by the Medical Device Innovation Consortium (MDIC), developed in partnership with the FDA, and delivered by ISACA through the CMMI Institute. VIP empowers medical device organisations to enhance product quality, improve patient outcomes, and focus on continuous improvement beyond compliance.

Being part of this global conversation allowed us to highlight how capability models such as CMMI and MDDAP contribute to industry transformation. It strengthened our partnerships with leaders such as Rick Borges, Mike Cook, and the ISACA and MDIC communities, while showcasing Demix’s role in advancing excellence within highly regulated environments.

ISACA London Conference

This event marked an important moment for the industry as the UK Government released new guidance mapping the alignment between the Cyber Governance Code of Practice and the CMMI model.
ISACA partnered with the UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) to develop this Code, offering boards and directors a structured framework to protect organisations against evolving cyber risks.

The conference showcased how CMMI strengthens governance, security, and resilience across cyber programmes, providing measurable and auditable approaches to cybersecurity excellence. This alignment reinforces the importance of maturity, consistency, and continuous improvement in organisational security, and our participation positioned Demix at the forefront of this evolution.

Recognition as a CMMI Strategic Partner

One of the most significant milestones this year was the announcement that Demix has been officially recognised as a CMMI Strategic Partner — the highest distinction awarded by the CMMI Institute.

Out of more than 400 licensed partners worldwide, only three organisations hold this status, placing Demix among global leaders such as KPMG and Layermark.

This recognition reflects years of consistent excellence, dedication to capability building, and a shared belief in sustainable, measurable improvement. It’s not just an organisational achievement — it’s a powerful affirmation of the passion, effort, and expertise of every individual contributing to this journey.

And the impact is measurable: over 120 CMMI Benchmarks were completed by the Demix team this year, helping organisations across industries elevate performance, strengthen resilience, and achieve maturity with confidence. This remarkable milestone speaks to both our global reach and the trust placed in us by clients worldwide.

Sharing Our Expertise Through Global Webinars

Another major highlight was our collaboration with ISACA on the global webinar, “Bridging the Strategy-Execution Gap: CMMI as the Engine for Strategic Success.”

In this session, Dr Pieter van Zyl and Ron Lear explored one of the most persistent challenges facing organisations today — the disconnect between strategy and execution. Research presented during the webinar revealed that 70 % of leaders struggle to execute their strategies effectively, underscoring the need for capability-driven approaches.

The discussion emphasised that strategy only delivers results when it’s connected to daily work. CMMI provides the structure to translate vision into measurable practice, enabling organisations to prioritise resources, manage risks, and achieve consistent outcomes.

Using a practical case study, the speakers demonstrated how CMMI helps close execution gaps and strengthen alignment across teams — reinforcing Demix’s leadership in strategy execution, process improvement, and sustainable performance.

In addition to our global webinar on the Strategy–Execution Gap, Pieter Roos also joined ISACA’s UK community webinar and panel discussion exploring how CMMI and COBIT can support organisations in meeting the newly released UK Cyber Governance and Software Security Codes of Practice.

The session brought together experts from ISACA, DSIT, and industry to unpack what these Codes mean for organisations, software vendors, and cyber teams across the UK. Pieter contributed practical insights into how capability models—particularly CMMI—can help bridge gaps in governance, security, and operational maturity, making compliance more achievable and measurable.

The event sparked strong engagement, with attendees eager to understand how existing frameworks can support the UK’s evolving cyber landscape. As was shared during the webinar: “It’s fascinating to see how frameworks we already know can support what’s coming next.”

Pieter’s participation reinforced Demix’s growing influence in cybersecurity governance and demonstrated our commitment to helping organisations navigate the real-world implications of the UK’s new Codes of Practice.

Celebrating Women in CMMI

This year also saw Melanie Spies and Bianca Erasmus take the spotlight as part of the Women in CMMI ISACA panel — a powerful initiative highlighting the voices, experiences, and insights of women shaping the future of capability and improvement. Their contributions added valuable perspective to the conversation, and we’re proud of their representation on the global stage.

We look forward to even more collaboration and involvement in 2026 as this community continues to grow and inspire.

Growth in Our MDDAP Capability

This year marked an exciting leap forward in our Medical Device Discovery Appraisal Program (MDDAP) capability.

Five team members were officially approved as MDDAP Assisting Team Members, strengthening our ability to support the medical device industry with greater depth and expertise. We also celebrate that Dr Pieter van Zyl and Johann (Elmo) Scheffer are now qualified MDDAP Lead Appraisers.

Our work this year spanned continents — from Utah, Puerto Rico, and Minneapolis to Singapore, Malaysia, Ireland, Germany, and Switzerland — deepening our cross-cultural insights and reinforcing our global influence in medical device excellence.
